The Active Wandsworth Awards are an annual event to celebrate the very best of sporting achievement in the borough. A glitzy award ceremony is held every year at Wandsworth Town Hall. This year’s ceremony was held on Friday 10th February and hosted by Sky Sports Presenter David Garrido.  The 14 awards were presented by the British Olympic Gold medal winning cox of the men’s 8, Phelan Hill and Aaron McKibbin, the Table Tennis player who won bronze medals at both the London & Rio Paralympics.

The nominees from Ernest Bevin College got off to a good early start when the U15 Volleyball Team won School Sports Team of the Year for their numerous successes in 2016 including winning the National title in May. There was further cause for celebration when Greenhouse Volleyball Coach, Ashley Trodden was one of two nominees to be named Coach of the Year.

Our final nominee, Jaden Kennedy, was up for one of the top awards of the evening Junior Sports Person of the Year. He was pipped at the post for this award, but, as he was one of the youngest nominees in the category, we are sure he will be back in future years if he continues his amazing form as a cross country and distance runner. It was great to see some of our sporting achievements recognised at this ceremony.
