Bridges for School

Blue Ties took part in a Bridges for School workshop run by STEM Ambassadors on Monday 5th February. The boys under the supervision of engineers from Mott MacDonald and BAM Nuttall had a great time building a 6 metre bridge and model bridges made from knex.

The students then got to test their bridges by measuring the load that could be applied to the knex bridge before it broke and my walking across the larger bridge. The engineers also spoke to the boys about their roles in engineering and gave them an insight into the range of careers available to those who study STEM subjects at school.
