At Ernest Bevin College we recognise the importance of working with parents and carers to ensure the very best for all pupils in the college. Success is best achieved by a 3-way partnership between the college, the pupil and their families. There are a number of ways we aim to support families throughout the year. As well as regular parents evenings and termly reports to keep parents informed of academic progress, the pastoral care system is organised to build partnerships from the beginning of Year 7. The tutor's role is to 'champion' boys in his or her tutor group and the Head of Year also plays a part in looking after the pupils in their year group. The aim is that the tutor and Head of Year stays with the same group from Year 7-11, and sometimes into the Sixth Form too, so that relationships of trust are established between college and family.
The college also organises a number of events throughout the year to help inform parents. This includes Parent Forum which takes place once a term and is an informal meeting where parents can come and ask questions or listen to presentations by senior staff. Please see below for details of this year's meetings and those held previously.
Meetings for Academic Year 2016-17
Friday 28th April 2016 9.30-10.30am
We will be previewing the MyEd app - please bring your mobile phone!
Parents are invited to learn more about their son's education and get involved in college life through the Parent Forum and attend informal meetings/coffee mornings that take place once a term.
All Parents/Carers are welcome but meetings are geared to those parents with boys new to the school, in particular those in Year 7 and 8. A member of staff will usually give a short presentation and we allow time for questions and discussion.
These mornings are to help parents' understand how the college works. Generally we are not able to discuss your son on an individual basis and if you have concerns you should contact your son's tutor or Head of Year for a private meeting.
Please come to reception and sign in.
Refreshments are provided.
